Luxembourg community in the UAE celebrates Luxembourg National Day

On the occasion of Luxembourg’s National Day, the Embassy of Luxembourg in Abu Dhabi hosted a reception bringing together members of the Luxembourg community residing in the United Arab Emirates to celebrate the official birthday of His Royal Highness the Grand Duke.

In light of the current regional context, this year’s celebration was intentionally held in a more intimate format, offering Luxembourgers in the UAE an opportunity to come together in a spirit of solidarity, friendship and community.

In her remarks, Ms. Marie-Anne Marx, Chargée d’Affaires a.i. of Luxembourg to the UAE, welcomed guests and paid tribute to the resilience, solidarity and strong sense of community demonstrated by Luxembourgers in the region over recent months. She expressed her sincere gratitude to the authorities of the United Arab Emirates and the Sultanate of Oman for their invaluable support and cooperation during a challenging period. Ms. Marx also conveyed her deep appreciation to the Embassy team for their professionalism, dedication and tireless commitment, which have been instrumental in supporting the Luxembourg tourists throughout these exceptional circumstances.

The reception highlighted the strong ties between Luxembourg and the UAE, built not only through high-level exchanges but also through the daily contributions of Luxembourgers living and working in the UAE.

Today, the Emirates is home to one of the largest Luxembourg communities outside Europe and ranks among the five leading destinations worldwide for Luxembourgers living abroad, alongside Brazil, the United States, Canada and Argentina.

The celebration also provided an opportunity to reflect on Luxembourg’s core values of openness, stability and solidarity, as well as on the new chapter in the nation’s history under the reign of His Royal Highness Grand Duke Guillaume.

The evening concluded in a warm and convivial atmosphere, with guests enjoying a selection of Luxembourg-inspired specialties while reconnecting with fellow Luxembourgers and friends of Luxembourg.

The Embassy of Luxembourg extends its sincere thanks to all those who attended and contributed to making the celebration a memorable occasion.

Vive le Grand-Duc, Vive la Famille grand-ducale, Vive les Emirats arabes unis et Vive le Luxembourg !
