Signing of the Treaty on Mutual Legal Assistance in Criminal Matters between Luxembourg and the United Arab Emirates
On 22 May 2026, on the sidelines of an official visit by a ministerial delegation from the United Arab Emirates to Luxembourg, the Minister for Justice, Elisabeth Margue, signed the treaty on mutual legal assistance in criminal matters between Luxembourg and the United Arab Emirates with H.E. Lana Nusseibeh, Minister of State of the United Arab Emirates, in the presence of the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister for Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Xavier Bettel, and His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates.
This treaty reflects a shared commitment to strengthening judicial cooperation between Luxembourg and the United Arab Emirates in the fight against all forms of serious crime, including financial and economic crime. It aims to facilitate mutual legal assistance between the judicial authorities of both countries in the context of criminal investigations. The treaty aims to provide a framework for cooperation in this area and thereby ensure greater effectiveness in the prosecution of cross-border crime.
