Luxembourg celebrates the European Day of Languages 2025 in Abu Dhabi

The Embassy of Luxembourg in Abu Dhabi was delighted to participate in the European Day of Languages 2025, held on 25 September at the German International School Abu Dhabi. This vibrant event brought together embassies and representatives from 22 European countries, offering students and families a unique opportunity to explore Europe’s rich linguistic and cultural heritage.

At the Luxembourg stand, visitors of all ages discovered the country’s three official languages: Luxembourgish, German, and French. Guests also enjoyed cookies in the shape of Luxembourg, decorated in the colors of the national flag, a sweet and creative symbol of the country’s identity.

In Luxembourg, Luxembourgish, German, and French coexist daily alongside the languages of more than 180 nationalities represented in the country. Spoken, written, taught, and broadcast across the media, these languages embody Luxembourg’s diversity and cultural vitality, while affirming the central role of Luxembourgish in shaping national identity.

A special word of thanks goes to our new intern, Ms. Debora Vasconcelos, for preparing an engaging and informative PowerPoint presentation on the languages spoken in Luxembourg. Her creativity and dedication greatly contributed to the success of our stand.

Luxembourg’s participation in this year’s European Day of Languages in Abu Dhabi underlines the importance of intercultural dialogue and linguistic exchange, as well as our country’s commitment to promoting its languages and culture on the international stage.
