The LTIO hosts the Benelux Business Council “Back to Business” event

On 18 September, the Luxembourg Trade and Investment Office (LTIO) in Abu Dhabi welcomed members of the Benelux Business Council (BBC) for a “Back to Business” networking reception at the official Residence of Luxembourg. The event brought together BBC members and business leaders from across the United Arab Emirates, marking a vibrant return after the summer break.

The occasion also marked Marie-Anne’s first public appearance since assuming her role of Chargée d’affaires a.i. at the Embassy, as well as her responsibilities as the new Executive Director of the Luxembourg Trade and Investment Office (LTIO).

The reception followed the Benelux Summit held on 10 September 2025 in Luxembourg, where the Prime Ministers of Belgium, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg celebrated the 65th anniversary of the Benelux Economic Union and reaffirmed their commitment to competitiveness, innovation, investment, and support for medium-sized enterprises.

Reflecting these priorities, the BBC in the UAE plays a key role in strengthening ties between the Benelux countries and the Emirates. With Luxembourg holding the Benelux presidency in 2025, the LTIO team emphasized its commitment to actively contributing to this dynamic network alongside Belgian and Dutch colleagues.

During the event, the Chargée d’affaires a.i. expressed gratitude to Mr. Andrew Cole, Vice-Chairman of the BBC and Embassy Liaison for Luxembourg, and to Ms. Sabrina Amiar, Senior Economic and Commercial Advisor at the LTIO in Abu Dhabi, for their dedication in strengthening Luxembourg’s economic ties in the UAE.

Following these remarks, Mr. Frank Wouters, Chairman of the BBC, shared his vision for the coming year in a brief speech, highlighting priorities for the business community.

The official part of the evening then concluded with a raffle featuring a selection of attractive prizes, after which guests continued networking in a relaxed and convivial atmosphere. It was also a special opportunity to connect with fellow Luxembourgers living in Dubai !
