The Luxembourg Embassy in Abu Dhabi took part in the celebrations of the European Union (EU) and United Nations (UN) Honor Days, which were held at Expo 2020 Dubai respectively on Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th of October.
The Embassy and the Luxembourg Pavilion joined forces to set up exhibitions celebrating Luxembourg's history and role in the construction of Europe on the one hand, and Luxembourg's multilateral engagement within the United Nations on the other.
Some 5000 daily visitors of the Luxembourg pavilion discovered the attachment of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg to multilateral values of peace, human dignity, freedom, democracy and equality. At nightfall, the pavilion lit up in blue, the color symbolizing the EU and the UN.
A delegation led by Margaritis Schinas, Vice President of the European Commission, was present at the various ceremonies organized in honor of the EU, punctuated by a public gala of classical music and dance at the Dubai Millennium Amphitheatre on Saturday night. For its part, the UN delegation was led by Deputy Secretary-General Amina Mohammed who took part in the variety of cultural events organized on Sunday as part of the UN Honor Day.
