On the occasion of National Day, Luxembourg Embassy and Trade & Invest Office make donation to help tackle the impact of the COVID-19 outbreak on the education of children and youth in the UAE

On 23 June 2020, the day that marks Luxembourg’s National Day, the Luxembourg Embassy and the Luxembourg Trade and Investment Office (LTIO) in Abu Dhabi joined Dubai Cares and the UAE Ministry of Education in their effort to support 40,000 UAE students by donating AED 20,000 to the ‘Education Uninterrupted’ initiative.

By making this donation, Luxembourg wishes to contribute to the efforts to mitigate the immediate impact of school closures and their far-reaching economic and societal effects and to facilitate the continuity of education for all through remote learning. The initiative strongly resonates with Luxembourg’s digital and tech mindset and approach, and its unwavering commitment and willingness to invest in the digital skills of the future.

H.E. Ambassador Elisabeth Cardoso said: “Education is the most important means to ensure that every child can fulfill its full potential in life, have access to all possible opportunities, and contribute in an active way to society and the economy. It is essential that it is not disrupted in challenging times. This donation is in line with Luxembourg’s values, priorities and policies, in our country and around the world

With this year’s National Day celebrations and festivities cancelled due to the current pandemic, Luxembourg diplomatic missions worldwide have decided to show our national spirit of solidarity and togetherness by supporting local charities and development projects.
