A decade after its very first edition in the UAE, the «FrancOfilm Festival» will again be celebrating French language through cinema with a range of francophone films from various countries including from the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg.
Organised in the framework of the «Month of Francophonie» that is taking place worldwide every year in March, the Festival, which will last from 28 February to 7 March 2020, will highlight the French language and its diversity with a selection of 9 films, screened both in Abu Dhabi and Dubai, around the theme “Season of African cultures in France”. During this 10th edition of the Festival, the Grand Duchy will be represented with no less than two Luxembourgish co-productions:
The first movie will be the dramatic comedy ‘Sawah’ (watch trailer here), directed by Ady El Assal, which will be screened on Saturday, 29 February 7:00 pm and Monday, 2 March 8:45 pm at Cinema Akil Dubai and on Tuesday, 3 March 8:00 pm at Edition Hotel – Abu Dhabi.
The second will be the animation movie, ‘Le voyage du prince’ (watch trailer here), directed by Jean-François Laguionie and Xavier Picard which will be screened on Friday, 6 March 5:00 pm at Cinema Akil Dubai.

The «FrancOfilm Festival» in the UAE is organised by the Institut Français in the United Arab Emirates, the Cultural Department of the French Embassy, together with the Alliance Française in the UAE, the Embassies of Belgium, Canada, France, Luxembourg and Switzerland and with the support of Cinema Akil in Dubai and EDITION Hotel in Abu Dhabi.
