On 19 September 2019, Luxembourg businesses in the UAE met at the Residence for an exchange of views on the challenges and opportunities of doing business in the UAE, after a first successful edition in 2018. The event was hosted by H.E. Elisabeth Cardoso, Ambassador of Luxembourg in Abu Dhabi, and by Mr. Loïc Bertoli, Director of the Luxembourg Trade and Investment Office.
Representatives of Luxembourg companies based in the UAE heard presentations given by H.E. Elisabeth Cardoso, by Mr. Loïc Bertoli and by a guest speaker, Mr. Stefan Kraxner, leader of the EU-GCC Dialogue on Economic Diversification, a project funded by the European Union to contribute to stronger EU-GCC trade relations through policy analysis, dialogue and cooperation between stakeholders from EU and GCC at both regional and country levels.
The meeting was an excellent opportunity to meet again with representatives of Luxembourg businesses in the UAE and to address the current geopolitical situation, the economic trends in the UAE and the potential trade barriers that may affect their business activities. The companies were also briefed on the latest developments regarding the Luxembourg pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai.
Currently more than 20 Luxembourg businesses are present throughout the UAE, in many diverse sectors such as infrastructure, finance, banking, services or cleantech.
