Launch of the second edition of the European Film Screenings

As part of the EU Presidency, the Embassy of Luxembourg to the United Arab Emirates organized the second edition of the "European Film Screenings" in partnership with the Delegation of the European Union and 18 of the 23 Member States of the EU present the United Arab Emirates. The event is being held under the patronage of H.E. Sheikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of culture, Youth and Community Development of the UAE.

The screenings began on Wednesday, October 21th, at the Abu Dhabi World Trade Centre Mall’s Novo Cinema with the opening film, the Oscar-nominated animated feature ‘Song of the Sea’, and will continue until the 31th October in Abu Dhabi and Dubai.

The opening ceremony was attended by H.E Sheikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Mrs Nicole Bintner-Bakshian, Ambassador of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, and Mr Patrizio Fondi, Ambassador of the European Union. Also among the prominent figures in attendance at the inauguration were the Ambassadors of the participating European countries, Mr Guy Daleiden, the Director of the Film Fund Luxembourg, Mr Stéphan Roelants, the producer of the opening film ‘Song of the Sea’, Mr Laurent Witz, the director of the Oscar winning short film Mr. Hublot, Mrs Debbie Stanford-Kristiansen, Chief Executive Officer of Novo Cinemas, Mr Mohamed Al Otaiba, Editor in Chief of The National, and Mrs Alessandra Priante, EFS Founder and Artistic Director, in addition to Emirati filmmakers and cultural figures of Abu Dhabi.
